PARROCCHIA SANTA CROCE di Nostro Signore Gesù Cristo POTENZA

La Chiesa è stata costruita su un’antica cappella, già ricordata nella relazione del Vescovo Carafa del 1566. Gioacchino Murat demolì la cappella per sistemarvi un carcere, che ebbe lo stesso nome.
In ricordo delle sofferenze di tanti condannati che hanno subito la croce di un matririo, la denominazione è poi passata alla nuova parrocchia, inaugurata nel 1970.


The Church was built on an ancient chapel, already mentioned in the report of Bishop Carafa of 1566. Gioacchino Murat demolished the chapel to set up a prison,which had the same name. In memory of so many convicted who suffered martyrdom, its denomination is then passed to the new parish, inaugurated in 1970.
